Special Education Paraprofessional/Classroom Assistant
Description
The district is seeking dedicated paraprofessionals to support students with disabilities across grade levels (K–12), including in self-contained and inclusive classroom settings. Positions involve providing individualized and small-group support under the direction of a certified special education teacher.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting students with academic tasks, behavior support, and daily routines
Supporting implementation of IEPs, behavior plans, and accommodations
Promoting student independence and inclusion
Assisting with personal care, mobility, and/or medical needs, as required
Supporting a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment
Expectations:
Paraprofessionals must be flexible, dependable, and team-oriented. Strong communication and a positive, student-focused mindset are essential. Assignments may vary based on student needs.
Requirements (per PA regulations):
High school diploma or equivalent
Must meet one of the following: Associate's degree, 48 postsecondary credits, or PDE-approved paraprofessional credential
Current clearances (PA State Police, Child Abuse, FBI)
Willingness to complete required professional development and training
