Teacher - Jr/Sr High Life Skills Support
Description
The district is seeking a compassionate, student-centered life skills support special education teacher to serve students in grades 7–12 with significant cognitive, adaptive, and functional needs. This full-time position focuses on developing academic, daily living, social, and vocational skills through individualized, hands-on instruction.
Responsibilities include:
Design and implement instruction aligned to IEP goals and transition plans
Provide direct instruction in functional academics, life skills, and community-based learning
Supervise paraprofessionals and coordinate with related service providers
Maintain compliance with special education regulations and documentation requirements
Collaborate with families, colleagues, and outside agencies to support student success
Expectations:
As a member of the Jr./Sr. High School faculty, the teacher is expected to participate in school activities, support inclusive practices, and contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment. Flexibility, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset are essential.
PA Teacher Certification in Special Education (PK–12 or appropriate level) required. Experience with life skills or functional programs preferred.
